We love to photograph fun people in love, so engagement photography is especially exciting and refreshing for us. When our couples share this much time with us we get to really take the time to play and learn more about each other! When we are working with our couples for their wedding photography we do not have this luxury or time so it helps to get acquainted like this first.

Engagement Photography Part One is also in a post from our extended Raleigh engagement photography session with Ashely and Nathan.
Ashley imagined a cool brisk day for her engagement photography in downtown Raleigh and on NC State’s campus, where both Ashley and Nathan met, while in college at State. And boy oh boy, did she get her wish! It was chilly so the cool new pea coats were a necessity.

It was one of the first cold nippy days of this winter several weeks ago. We met in the park at the center of town, you know, the one with the big Acorn, smack dab in the middle of downtown.
Our plan was to walk over to the City Market and then wander over to Fayetteville Street Mall to The Stockroom at 230 to see if we could take some indoor images at the Ashley and Nathan’s reception location! This has been a very popular venue to get married recently as we have spoken with several brides wanted to have their reception in downtown Raleigh. The warm brick walls and old floor boards make this a charming location for an intimate or nice sized wedding group. And I love all of the potential pictures we will get with our wedding couple there!
Walking around, looking for the light, staying warm and being silly together gives us all time to get to know each other in a casual and informal way. Once we look through our images together we begin to learn more about our couple’s photography preferences and get great feedback on the images they love and the ones that tickle their funny bone. This helps because then when wedding day arrives we will have a great relationship started where our couple is confident they will look great, they feel comfortable with us on a pretty quickly moving day full of emotional swings, and we know exactly which tools to pull out of our tool chest to create imagery which will capture their love for each other and show those meaningful family relationships in the candid moments which come our way!

It is possible that our very favorite image from our session together was taken right where our wedding couple will say their vows at The Stockroom at 230! The warm light bouncing off the original floor boards made this such a sweet photograph.

I am so thrilled that we got to spend so much time together Ashley and Nathan. Thank you! The breadth of our pictures together is deep and this set of images really celebrates this special time for you together alone! I cannot wait until a few months from now when we will get to play together on the Streets of Fayetteville and see you two get married and celebrate with your family and friends! I sure do look forward to more time together with you both!
