Fine Art Photography – Trees

We won another fun contest!

Here is the final oil painting of the fine art scene I mentioned in the previous post “Trees”.  I treasure Heather Michelle Bjoershol’s (Heather the Painter) rendition of this magical moment and will hang this lovely large format landscape to more fully appreciate each brush stroke.  We have several pieces of Art from Heather in our office.  Ask to see them!

Our clients have more choices and we feel Heather is a brilliant Artist whom we are proud to work with!

The brush strokes and details of this scene compliment the feeling of this magical moment nicely.  Great job Heather, we love working with you!

Several years ago I attended the Monet Exhibit at the Art Museum in Raleigh.  I loved it so much that I went twice and bought the headphones to really study the Art and technique and history of Monet.

I love landscapes!  I also love the study of light throughout the day and how different colors of light can effect a particular scene.  Apparently this is something many artists appreciate.  Monet repainted scenes throughout the day and seasons.  There were many scenes on exhibit with the differing iterations he created from warm, cold and seasonal light.  It was truly inspiring!

Without any idea of the influence this exhibit had on me I recorded some really cool light coming through some trees at a campsite we had set near the ridge in New Mexico in a fairly remote National Park.  The back lighting was incredibly warm in early Spring up on the ridge for just a few moments.  This warm backlit color bounced off some very cool colors coming from the open shade within the trees in the foreground….I love contrasts!  Contrasts of color are  particularly striking and seem to vibrate.  I knew this scene would be something I could play with later.

It took a few years, but an opportunity arose for us to submit to a contest with some different versions of this scene.  Heather Michelle Bjoershol (Heather the Painter) was working on a DVD tutorial on how to paint with Corel to create Monet-styled art from landscapes, a departure from her lovely portraiture paintings.  I knew this was our chance to do something with this image, finally!  So we entered and WON!  Her tutorial is wonderful and extremely educational.  If you are interested in purchasing her “Breaking Out of the Box:
Intro to Landscapes” go here and click on DVDs on the menu bar.
